Electronic Awakening is an ethnographic Documentary film which investigates the spirituality of the Electronic Dance Music Culture.
Electronic Awakening reviews rave’s evolution from large-scale commercial events to smaller gatherings in remote locations. The film offers insight into the inner workings of the brain and its metaphysical connection to the repetitive beats that allow for that sense of oneness, unity and freedom that millions feel on the dance floor. It also investigates this culture’s significance to the prophecies of 2012, how this bizarre and sacral relationship to electronic music has evolved the group over time, and where it all seems to be leading them.
Hello and happy summer from your friends at The DAKA!
This summer we’ll be working extra hard to continue to make the DAKA a better place. A window garden, mounted mirrors, a new bathroom floor and a fresh coat of paint are in the works! We will also be collectively creating a patchwork curtain to frame the stage! If you have any extra green fabric scraps laying around please donate!!

Bonnie MacDougall of Havenhoopdance, began hooping almost 10 years ago on the Weaver St. Market lawn in Carrboro, NC after an injury left her unable to continue her intensive running regimen. She has never looked back. A weekly student of Jonathan Baxter’s, founder of the HoopPath, for 5 years, Bonnie’s practice is nourished with meditative movement as well as technical hoop artistry. She has also had the honor of learning from Ann Humphreys, Brecken Rivera, Vivian Spiral, Julia Hartsell-Crews, Anah Reichenbach, Khan Wong, and Rich Porter to name a handful.
